Friday 7/29/1991: Los Angeles (N)'s Belinda severely injured
LOS ANGELES (N) - Los Angeles (N) is without its right-hander Stan Belinda for at least 5-6 weeks. He injured himself while throwing a pitch to Charlie Montoyo in a game against Montreal. His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Ruptured Bicep Tendon. This season Belinda compiled an ERA of 4.34, going 3-2 in 0 starts. He fanned 35 while giving up 41 hits in 45.2 innings.
Wednesday 7/27/1991: Erik Hanson pitches his 1st shutout of the season
HOUSTON - Houston's right-hander Erik Hanson will never forget this day. The 26-year old recorded his first career shutout, a 1-hitter, against Chicago (N) on Wednesday. 'I'll have to give a lot of credit to my catcher. He put all the right fingers down today.' Hanson (8-8) fanned 5 and walked 2, throwing 94 pitches. Mike Greenwell helped Hanson at the plate, he finished with 2 hits in 4 AB, homering once, scoring two runs and collecting 2 RBI. The final score of the game was 5-0.
