Tuesday 9/20/1991: Dave Winfield collects 3000th hit against Milwaukee
MILWAUKEE - Dave Winfield got a standing ovation from 22045 fans in Milwaukee, who witnessed his 3000th career hit. His hit in the 7th inning was a single off Craig Lefferts. Along with his 3000 hits, Dave collected 261 homeruns and 1481 RBI in 17 seasons. 'My firends always told me that I will do it one day. I never believed it. Good that I was wrong!' The Hall of Fame already has reserved a place for this great player.
Monday 9/19/1991: Alomar (CHA) and Wallach (PIT) win P.O.W. award
Roberto Alomar from Chicago (A) wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American League. He hit .560 with 3 RBI and slugged .720 in 25 at bats. The National League's best player of the week was Pittsburgh's Tim Wallach, who wins the award for the 3rd time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .538 and hit .500, while driving in 11 runs. This year Wallach drove in 96 and scored 76 runs while batting .276 with 25 longballs. He's 3rd in the National League in RBIs and 8th in homeruns!
Saturday 9/17/1991: Glenn Hubbard (SEA) will miss 9 weeks
SEATTLE - Seattle's Glenn Hubbard suffered a serious injury Saturday in a game against California. Hubbard fell down while running the bases and couldn't get up without help. He will miss probably 9 weeks. Torn Abdominal Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Hubbard has hit one bomb this year while batting .297. He adds 22 doubles, along with 76 runs scored. He's 9th in the American League in batting!
