AL Central in review
Well here we are at the end of another season of HOFFBL, and yet another year to put into perspective. So much has happened since the beginning of April to this point, the time of year all baseball players year for, to play in October.
We start our look at the Central with the bottom dwelling Twins. What strikes you first is the depth of talent on the team and in the minors. You see the foundation of what is likely to become a powerhouse for all of baseball, and what could easily become a team of the decade other than it looks to start peaking mid decade. Then the question will be can it sustain more than the standard 4-9 year run? While they won’t be ready to challenge for the pennant next year.
The Royals are starting a rebuild and have serious concerns about the ability to generate money in their cramped little stadium that only holds 30K of fans. As has been shown league wide, more fans in the stadium means more money. They have a number of nice prospects in their minors however, they need far more as some of their best players are getting older in the majors.
Milwaukee, now in its second season of not having a winning season after a record number of consecutive winning seasons is still trying to find the answers to the Central. The run has seemed to leave the minors a bit depleted, but they still have a wealth of talent in the organization. The question is, can what they have and repeated mid round 1sts bring them back to their glory?
The biggest second half letdown has got to be the Tigers. For most of the first half the looked like maybe they could be a force to be reckoned with, only to fall to 500 as the season closed out. A team loaded with talent, and the question was when would they run down the Sox, becomes will they be around when the Twins run downs the Sox. Still a dearth of talent in the minors, the question is, will they be as good in the majors as they look to be in the minors?
Last we have the Central champ from the last several years the Sox. Top to bottom just a solid team and still have some talent in the minors, but most of what is in the minors are guys that look to be filler players. Saying that and if correct, the question is how long can the Sox sustain this juggernaut of the Central?
