Saturday 5/21/1992: Scott Garrelts shuts out San Diego on 2 hits
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's right-hander Scott Garrelts is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking San Diego on just 2 hits. It's his 4th shutout this season, and the 9th time he has done it in his career. With no outs in the 5th inning John Jaha singled to break up the no-hitter. 'Things like that happen. You take the mound and everything works. My velocity was pretty good today and I guess it showed.' Garrelts (11-0) was overpowering, fanning 11 while walking 2, throwing 131 pitches. Barry Bonds provided San Francisco with the offense Garrelts needed as he went 2 for 4, homering once. San Francisco improved its record to 39-7, scoring 4 runs on 8 hits.
