MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee's right-hander Ken Dixon suffered a severe injury on Monday and will be out for at least 5-6 weeks. In the 3rd of the game against Cleveland he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Inflamed Rotator Cuff Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. Ken has a record of 0-1 this season, with an ERA of 8.31. In 8.2 Innings he was able to strike out 5 batters.
Monday 5/2/1993: Player of the Week honors go to Daulton and Pendleton
The American League Player of the Week award goes to Darren Daulton, Oakland's starting catcher. Darren pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .560 with 4 HR and 9 RBI while slugging 1.160. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to St. Louis' Terry Pendleton this time, as the shortstop displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco's right-hander Bryan Harvey is a great pitcher. And he once again showed his stuff, blanking Philadelphia on just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 12th time he has done it in his career. 'Pitching a great game is always a good thing. And it doesn't get much better than today.' Harvey (4-1) was overpowering, fanning 12 while walking 2, throwing 134 pitches. The hitting star for San Francisco was shortstop Matt D. Williams, he collected 2 hits in 4 trips to the plate, going deep twice, scoring two runs and driving in 2 runs. The final score of the game was 8-0.
