Well Braves fans, after the first losing April in forever, the Braves while not quite righting the ship, made strides to do so. With the return of Maddux on May 9th, the Braves started turning it around and road out a 18-10 May! What makes this even more outstanding is the Braves started the month 2-4 which had them at 13-16, really looking like the glory was finally over. For the month of May, Maddux went 4-1 had a shutout, and only gave up 4 earned runs (his only loss was the result of an unearned run) The 2 time Cy Young winner is looking like the stud he is, just mowing down batters with ease. At the end of the month, the Braves had reclaimed 1st in the East and were sitting at 29-26 in what is looking like to be one of the weakest NL East's in quite some time. Julio Cruz really turned it around in May, going from hitting .231 in April to .361 for May, and bringing his season avg to almost 300. Julio needs 316 hits to take over 1st place for all time hits. He already is the leader in all time steals, by... A LOT!. Also in his sights is the triples crown, as he needs 11 more to tie, and 12 to break. The other longtime Brave to make some noise in May was their CF Dale Murphy blasting his 300th HR and hitting > .360 on the young season.. One of the unusual stats with Murph is with all that power he also has 700+ stolen bases and is #25 on the all time list. The #70 Rock song of 1994
