Greg Myers from Chicago (A) wins his 1st Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American League. Greg pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .524 with 4 HR and 9 RBI while slugging 1.238. This year Myers drove in 39 and scored 27 runs while batting .263 with 10 taters. Felix Jose from St. Louis wins his 2nd Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the National League. Felix was on fire, hitting .417 with 5 HR and 8 RBI. He now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well! Jose has walked 39 times this year and posts a .425 OBP. While batting .327, 74 for 226, he has driven in 49 runs. He's 9th in the National League in RBIs and 6th in homeruns!
Saturday 6/11/1994: Luis Aquino dominates Cincinnati, gives up just 2 hits
CINCINNATI - Luis Aquino had some fun again. Cincinnati hitters did not. San Diego's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 2nd shutout of the season. He now has 6 career shutouts in 143 games started. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' Aquino (4-3) fanned 6 and walked 1, throwing 111 pitches. Brian S. Giles provided San Diego with the offense Aquino needed as he finished 3 for 5, blasting a homerun, with 4 RBI. The final score of the game was 6-0.
