As announced last week Mark Brouhard rejoined the Braves to shore up D at the corner, and his first game back committed an error leading to 4 unearned runs, which were the difference in the anticipated matchup between Maddux and Shields. Shields got the win and Maddux got a no decision. Since rejoining the Braves he is 9 for 16, a double and 3 runs scored. Not to be outdone, Julio Cruz seems to be loving the #2 spot in the lineup hiting .467 in the last 5 since being moved to it.
The injury bug returned to the team with Julio Cruz suffering a minor injury, but Starting Pitcher Joe Price wasn't as lucky as he now has a bulging disk that will take some time to heal, and while he can still play, you can see he is in obvious pain which is bound to hamper his ability to be the dominating pitcher he is.
In brighter news Stan Javiar finally returned from his injury that had him sidelined since the second week of the season. Stan wasted no time showing he hasn't lost his touch with a bat or on the base paths, hitting .389 in 18 AB's taking on an additional 3 walks, and going 5 for 5 in swipes. Javiar and Brouhard coming back has the Skipper hoping it will help wake up the offence that has been near the bottom in batting avg and runs scored.
