It's the 1st time that the American League Player of the Week award goes to California's first baseman Todd Hundley. In 27 at bats he hit .481 with 5 HR and 14 RBI. The National League's best player of the week was San Diego's Jim Lindeman, who wins the award for the 1st time in his career. Winner of this months American League Pitcher of the Month award is Seattle's Dan Petry. He went 4-1 in April and finished the month with an ERA of 0.88. He struck out 32 in 41 innings. Dan fired two shutouts! San Francisco's Steve Shields had a terrific April, and it earned him the National League Pitcher of the month award. His record of 4-1 in 5 was among the leagues best this month. In 41 innings of work he allowed just 19 hits while striking out 46, compiling an ERA of just 1.32. Steve fired two shutouts!

It's the 1st time that the American League Batter of the Month award goes to Milwaukee's first baseman Carlos Delgado. In 85 at bats he hit .388 with 7 HR and 19 RBI. It's the 1st time that the National League Batter of the Month award goes to San Francisco's third baseman Rob Deer. In 85 at bats he hit .365 with 11 HR and 32 RBI.
Friday 4/29/1995: Todd Hundley punishes Kansas City with five hits
KANSAS CITY - California's first baseman Todd Hundley accomplished a difficult feat in a 13-1 win over Kansas City, drilling five hits to improve his career batting average to .250! His 1st hit was a double off Chris Hammond in the 2nd inning. His 2nd hit, a solo homerun off Chris Hammond in the 4th inning, cleared the fence in center field. A pitch from Chris Hammond in the 6th inning left his bat for a solo homerun, landing 382 feet from home plate in right field. In the 7th inning he belted a two-run double off Tim Van Egmond. He collected a single in the 8th, driving in one run. Todd did drive in 5 while scoring 3 runs on his own. He now has a total of 24 hits this season, accounting for a .282 batting average. The final score of the game was 13-1.
Tuesday 4/26/1995: Montreal's Evers out for 5 weeks
MONTREAL - Montreal's right-hander Troy Evers suffered a severe injury on Tuesday and will be out for at least 5 weeks. In the 6th of the game against Philadelphia he experienced pain in his throwing arm and had to leave the game. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Pulled Bicep Muscle which will require surgery. In 4 starts this year Troy struck out 9 batters in 23.2 innings of work. His ERA is 2.28, his record 1-0.

CLEVELAND - Cleveland's right-hander Shingo Takatsu will not pitch again this year, suffering a serious injury in the game against Baltimore on Monday. Torn Rotator Cuff Muscle was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. Shingo has a record of 0-1 this season, with an ERA of 7.94. In 5.2 Innings he was able to strike out 1 batters.
