Saturday 5/7/1995: Chicago (A) has no chance in a 1-hitter by Bret Saberhagen
MILWAUKEE - Great days are rare. But not for Milwaukee's right-hander Bret Saberhagen. Chicago (A) found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 7th time he has done it in his career. Saberhagen (4-3) struck out 5 and walked 1, throwing 66 of 111 pitches for strikes. 'Hey, that's my job! Everytime I take the mound I give the best I can. And my best stuff was too much for them today.' Kevin Koslofski helped Saberhagen at the plate, he finished 3 for 4, scoring 2 runs. Milwaukee improved its record to 10-20, scoring 8 runs on 10 hits.
Friday 5/6/1995: Hal Morris (BOS) will miss full season
BOSTON - Boston's rightfielder Hal Morris will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Boston and Oakland. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Morris collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. After x-rays were taken the diagnosis did not surprise many: Torn Back Muscle. Surgery will be performed next week. His season numbers are: .304 AVG, 34 hits, 9 doubles, no triples and 5 bombs, along with 19 RBI and 19 runs scored.
Wednesday 5/4/1995: Dean Palmer (FLA) will miss 4-5 weeks
FLORIDA - Being hit with a pitch is no fun at all. Especially when you get injured. Florida's third baseman Dean Palmer will miss about 4-5 weeks after being hit by Ben McDonald in the 4th inning of the game between Florida and Colorado. Fractured Hand was the diagnosis after x-rays were taken in a nearby hospital. The message shocked teammates and team officials. While compiling an on base percentage of .362, Dean hit .283 and slugged .543. He has collected 25 runs batted in this year. He's 4th in the National League in RBIs and 7th in homeruns!
