Well HOFFBL fans we’re just past the half way mark of the 95 season, and lets do our roundtable of the league. One thing that is for sure, the times are a changing, and perennial powerhouses are starting to show their age.
First up is the AL East and the dominance of the Blue Jays finally seems to be at an end after 6 straight 100+ win seasons. Hard to believe in 88 they finished fourth in the division with 92 wins. Taking their glory is the young Red Sox, that do have some older guys they will need to be able to replace in the next couple seasons if they hope to make this run last for any amount of time. This season though, they have the SP and bats to go deep into the playoffs, cause as we all know, just getting to the dance is all that is needed.
In the Central, the big kids on the block are the Chi Sox and the Twins, bot announced blockbuster trades, but this prognosticator thinks Chis Sox won the trade war thus far, and bringing Doc to town, was a huge upgrade of another Cy Young style pitcher. Tino Martinex for the Twins allows them to field Thundaaaaar Road, as those bats will be crackin the long ball with Belle, Martinex, Davis, Hamelin, Edmonds, Strawberry, and Vaughn all poised to take a pitcher deep on any given pitch. Right now, these look to be the two best teams in the AL.
Out in the West, it is once again Cali and Seattle duking it out, in what looks to be a win or go home race for the Division title. Just days ago, it looked like Cali was ready to claim the mantle, alas Seattle came storming back and now has a three game lead on the Angels.
The NL East is tighter than the linear combination of atomic orbitals when there is more than a few thousand atoms in a unit cell. What was once for the Braves to run home with is being contested by the Expos, with a back and forth ferocity that could leave either team spent before the playoffs even arrive. Currently the East has the leg up for sending a wild card team.
In the Central, St. Louis is once again looking to be the team to beat, and looks like they will take the division back from the Cubs. St Louis has either been first or second in the Central for the last 15 years, and looks to easily extend that streak to 16.
Out in the West, one has to feel sorry for the Dodgers, that are having a good season, but are in the same division as the soul crushing Giants. Does anyone in the NL stand a chance against them?
