Well, HOFFBL fans we’re heading into the playoff run for the 95 season, and lets do our roundtable of the league. One thing that is for sure, the times are a changing, and perennial powerhouses are starting to show their age. So far we only have two 100 game winners, but we have four 100 game losers already…
Starting as always in the AL East, Boston has done it and taken the division from Toronto. The question is, will Toronto do a full blown rebuild, or can they quickly retool and try to get their crown back in the next couples of seasons. Normally they would be in the WC hunt, but the chances are almost slimmer than none that they will get it as they are further back from the WC than they are from winning the division.
The Central is thee place, with the two best records in the AL, too bad for the ChiSox the Twins are in the same division, as Minnesota is where it is at right now. Those bats up in Minni are just cranking the ball out of the park with 6 players having more than 20 dingers already.
Out in the West, it looks like Seattle has finally slowed down, as they have way cooled off, and Cali is looking to be number 1 again, for the first time since Uwillovette guided them to 106 wins in 1992. The question is, how long will Cali be able to hold the group together with the ballooning payroll?
Predictions Boston, the Twins, ChiSOx and Angels make the post season…. I know not much of a prediction lol.
The NL East is looking familiar, with the Braves out front, but can they hold it down the stretch? Maddux, Smoltz and Robinson have been smoking hot of late, and Maddux just notched his 200th win. Montreal, has cooled off recently, but all season long has shown they are capable of going on a tear, will they do it again and take the East from the Braves? Right now they have a slim 1 game lead for the WC spot.
The Central is tight as ever with the Cubs and Cards duking it out and simultaneously both being 2 games back from Montreal for the WC birth. I thought it was over a couple times with each being the fav to win, but neither team has given up and every game is being played in a do or die fashion, leaving this prognosticator baffled, but enjoying the show. Good luck to both.
The West is the Giant show of trying to break the all time win record… again. The only team to have 120 wins or more, and they are 8 wins away from that achievement, and 10 away from breaking their own record with 17 games to go. LA has rebounded from an OK first half, to now in position to make the post season by virtue of the WC. 1 game behind Montreal and having a really good run of late, can they finish strong down the stretch and make it?
My only prediction for the NL right now is that SF will break the all time win record.
