Sunday 10/9/1995: Greg Maddux blanks St. Louis with a 2-hitter
ATLANTA - Greg Maddux took the mound and never left. And St. Louis hitters couldn't touch him at all. Atlanta's right-hander gave up just 2 hits in his 6th shutout of the season. He now has 35 career shutouts in 336 games started. Rex Hudler spoiled the bid for a no-hitter when he singled with one out in the 5th inning. 'Giving my team a chance to win is the most important thing for me. I was able to do it today.' Maddux (25-3) struck out 2 and issued 2 BB, throwing 51 of 87 pitches for strikes. The hitting star for Atlanta was first baseman Bob Horner, he stroked 1 hit in 4 AB. Atlanta scored 1 run on 6 hits.
