Monday 4/25/1996: Montreal's Lavalliere wins Player of the Week award
Edgar Martinez from Seattle wins his 8th Player of the Week award for putting up the best numbers this week in the American League. Edgar went 10 for 22 (.455), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 12 RBI. He got at least one hit each game this week and is on a 9 game hitting streak right now. Montreal's catcher Mike Lavalliere had some reason to celebrate as well, as the league named him the National League Player of the Week. Mike pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .600 with 2 HR and 4 RBI while slugging 1.000.
Thursday 4/21/1996: New York (A)'s Bradley out for 6 weeks
NEW YORK (A) - New York (A)'s season took a blow when Scott Bradley suffered a serious injury in the game against Baltimore. He was hurt when ge got bowled over in a scary collision at home plate. Bradley will probaby miss 6 weeks. Doctors examined him after the game and diagnosed a Broken Ribs which will require surgery. Bradley has hit one bomb this year while batting .339. He adds one double, along with 6 runs scored.
Monday 4/18/1996: Belle (MIN) and Clark (SFG) win P.O.W. award
The American League Player of the Week award goes to Albert Belle, Minnesota's starting leftfielder. Albert went 10 for 25 (.400), while hitting 3 HR and collecting 12 RBI. Albert managed to drive in at least one run in every game he played this week. His season numbers are: .286 AVG, 14 hits, 4 doubles, no triples and 4 longballs, along with 14 RBI and 8 runs scored. It's the 4th time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to San Francisco's first baseman Will Clark. Will went 14 for 26 (.538), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 11 RBI.
