The American League Player of the Week award goes to Manny Ramirez, Boston's starting centerfielder. In 24 at bats he hit .458 with 3 HR and 8 RBI. The Player of the Week award in the National League goes to St. Louis' Mike Lavalliere this time, as the catcher displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. In 18 at bats he hit .611 with 2 HR and 9 RBI.
Wednesday 5/11/1997: Jose Rijo shuts out Cleveland on one hit
BALTIMORE - Great days are rare. But not for Baltimore's right-hander Jose Rijo. Cleveland found out the hard way that he is among the leagues top pitchers, getting just one hit. It's his 1st shutout this season, and the 7th time he has done it in his career. Rijo (3-2) fanned 5 and walked 1, throwing 115 pitches. 'I hit the corners with all of my pitches. That helped a lot!' The hitting star for Baltimore was shortstop Tim Raines Sr., he finished 3 for 4. Baltimore scored 3 runs on 10 hits.

Diagnosis: Sore Shoulder.

Got to meet Chris and Josh yesterday, was a great time. I tried in vain to be a horrible influence on Chris with more and more beer, but he resisted.

was gonna, but ran out of time. I'll do it in a few minutes as yesterday, today, tomorrow and Thursday are all about the move. Should be able to sim Thursday night. If not, Friday morning as I took the day off. |
