If I remember correctly the franchise player was created with the intention of allowing GMs the chance to draft some of their teams greats or their favourites.
One of our longtime GMs is 3 points short of drafting one if these players.
I purpose in the spirit of the rule and, based in this being a fun hobby with fellow baseball fans, that each team us awarded 5 bonus franchise points.

I mean I'll vote yes, but he's got to shed a ton of talent to get to the #3 pick.

Anyone know how many points we get in 2000?

I was short just a few points to get Saberhagen about 15 seasons back (because Brett and my team--because of Brett-were too good at the time), so I understand the pain. "Settled" for Appier. Anyway, it sucks, but I'm not for changing the rules midstream...I'm sure some other owners are gunning for said player too and not having this settled well in advance will (rightfully) have them crying foul. I voted no.

I'm assuming all appropriate franchise player longevity bonuses were awarded for this team...
