Monday 5/23/1998: Player of the Week honors go to Grace and Millar
The Player of the Week award in the American League goes to Baltimore's Mark Grace this time, as the first baseman displayed the best offensive perfomance in his league. Mark went 10 for 21 (.476), while hitting 4 HR and collecting 10 RBI. He now has homered in 3 consecutive games as well! His season features a batting average of .319 (52 hits in 163 AB), 12 doubles, no triples and 9 homeruns. Grace collected 35 RBI and 31 runs as well. It's the 2nd time that the National League Player of the Week award goes to Chicago (N)'s third baseman Kevin Millar. Millar helped his team with an average of .500 and 13 RBI in 30 at bats. He hit in every game this week and extended his hitting streak to 7 games. While compiling an on base percentage of .359, Kevin hit .293 and slugged .466. He has collected 34 runs batted in this year.
Friday 5/20/1998: Adam Hyzdu (TOR) will miss 5 weeks
TORONTO - Toronto's players were scared when they had to watch Adam Hyzdu suffer a serious injury when he dove for a ball in the game against Minnesota. He collapsed in pain and was helped off the field. Hyzdu will probaby miss 5 weeks. Hyzdu was rushed to an hospital near the ballpark, where doctors took x-rays. Those revealed the serious injury, Broken Ribs. Hyzdu has hit 5 bombs this year while batting .235. He adds 5 doubles, along with 18 runs scored.
