The Dodgers announced some last minute field changes on the eve of their opening season out west. As the Dodgers packed up and moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles during the offseason, they moved into their new stadium, LA Memorial Colesium. The stadium is much larger than Ebbets Field, where the Dodgers played their games in Brooklyn. Larger in terms of seating capacity, similar yet different in terms of field dimensions. There were many questions this offseason as to what the Dodgers would do, if anything, to the field dimensions.
Well this morning, just hours before hosting their first game of the season against the St. Louis Cardinals, Dodger management decided to unveil some last minute changes that they made to the fences over the last week.
Basically, they moved the fences to create the same dimensions that they had in Brooklyn. Team management stated that there was a reason they moved the Brooklyn fences as they did, and with the current team, it makes perfect sense to keep them the same for the short terms. Those dimensions are as follows:
LFL - 321 (25 high) LF - 326 (35 high) LCF - 387 (35 high) CF - 429 (25 high) RCF - 390 (25 high) RF - 339 (8 high) RFL - 326 (8 high)
Those should generate ballpark factors of:
RBA - 105 LBA - 100 RHR - 103 LHR - 107 2B - 125 3B - 100
