BREAKING NEWS! THE COMMISSIONERS OFFICE HAS RELEASED NEW RULES THAT HINDER SMALL MARKET TEAMS!
Implemented are two rules that destroy small market teams. Pirates Stooolfan explains the issues and why he is considering locking out his players.
Stooolfan explains, the overreaching commissioners office capping the cash being able to be traded to teams hurts us specifically in Pittsburg. Pittsburg in almost 50 years as an organization has never made over 75mil a season for reference all 4 years of LAD in 4th place made more money then Pittsburg with maxed FI . As a completive GM I want to pay my players to go out and compete and bring a title back to the fans. However, stopping me from trading for max cash HURTS my completive chances. Especially when large market teams can run 90mil plus. It seems the new right hand of the office has convinced longtime commish to implement new rules.
Secondly the addition to the DH adds more depth issues in Pittsburg. Pittsburg has prepared for a run with current rules. Now out a player like Konerko who would have been a perfect DH Pittsburg must add more salary to a team who has financial limitations. Historical accuracy seems to have gone out the window as we move forward.
Third, if we are not following historical accuracy why do franchise reservations my organization has been hindered from this rule as well.
Therefore, as the GM I must trade the team to prepare for the overreaching and crippling rule change implemented. Fans of Pittsburg, I am sorry the office of the commissioner is making a mistake and hurting our small market. If I knew these rules would have been implemented I would have waited before pushing for a title.
Hopefully our one year run will bring fond memories before falling victim to the crippling rules.
Pittsburg will be refunding season tickets for next year to make up for trading the electrifying roster assembled.

Like I mentioned earlier this season, I think you're waaay overreacting to the changes.
Let me ๐โโ๏ธ some numbers for you:
- You're making about 135k more per game which will keep increasing as you keep winning. Over 81 home games, that equates to 11M more in revenue. When combined with the additional 1M in TV deals, another 100k to 200k in merchandising and say 1M in playoff revenue, you're going to end up with more than 13M in more revenue from last season.
- Last season you had a little more than 55M in revenue and as per above you'll end up with at least 68.5M in revenue this season and will keep increasing year over year so long as you stay competitive.
- You will have about 76M in expenses, so you will end up losing about 8.5M in cash (or less if you have more playoff home games) but since you have 30M in cash on hand that will hardly impact you since you can trade for up to 15M next season to eliminate that loss.
- Also, by 2000 (when the DH comes into effect), we will have adjusted market sizes and TV money ranges such that the difference between a small and large market will be cut in half basically. So your revenues will increase a bit more.
- I would think you will be able to easily maintain a 80M-90M payroll, assuming you trade for some cash to stay even.
- That said, if you can't keep the team together without adding another 10M for a DH that you can buy in free agency, then you're not trying. And that's assuming you keep your pair of 15M contracts......
- In sum, I don't think you need to break the team down at all.
- Also: I hate the FPR now anyway and we went to 3 divisions way earlier.

I was gonna post something very similar. I don't understand why he'd be selling at all right now, but I think he's just mad about Konerko (which fair enough, that was kind of a dumb trade at the time and it looks even worse if he actually had a spot to play him).

I don't know why you plan to only have 8 hitters anyway. Depth, injuries, etc.
