Big time performance by the Dodgers bullpen, especially in game two. A game that Nomo only lasted 1/3 of an inning, gave up one earned run and got pulled. Weird managerial decisions were made.
Manager Jmich24 was interviewed after the game. “I stand by my decision. We think the world of Nomo, but I saw from the start he just didn’t have a great feel tonight in warm ups. We expect him to bounce back early and get the ball in game two against the Braves”
The well build pull pen and the deadline acquisition of MR Shuey proved to be the difference in this series.
JMich24 said “We are a complete team and we trusted our bullpen all year. We think we have the best closer(Nelson) in the game and the other arms have been great all year. We have a nice combination of lefty’s and righty’s. Even Worrell a chipped in from the bullpen after winning 16 games as a starter during the regular season.”
Utility infielder Cedeno did a great job stepping into the lead off roll after a freak injury to everyday starter McCrae. Cedeno hit .333 with two HRs and 4 RBI.
Jmich24 said “McCrae has been incredible all year drawing walks and getting on base from the lead off spot. He was shook after taking that fast ball in the face. Our doctors thought it was best to play it safe and keep him out of the lineup against Pittsburgh.”
“We have a lot of trust in Cedeno’s ability’s and just don’t have a everyday spot in our lineup for him. When a guy like Cedeno come off your bench you know you’re in great shape as a team.”
The Dodgers are looking forward to take a swing at the red hot pitching Atlanta Braves.
Jmich24 said. “Runs will be a premium in this series. Hoping the combination of being patient at the plate and a few timely HRs put the us over the top.” Our guys are excited at the success we’ve had this season and are not ready for deer hunting season just yet.
