Tempers have been short after the Mets staggered out of the gate to the new season. However, while fans grumbled into their beers, the team has rattled off a 10 game winning streak.
The bats have been hot to start the season with 1B Tony Clark leading the power surge with 12 HR. The Jefferies, Miller, Myers trio that was brought in to replace the missing power of Jefferies seems to be getting on track, hitting 13 homeruns through 34 games.
Pitching is where the team has felt the biggest disappoint early on. Closer Zerbe seemed lossed in the sauce but now has 6 straight scoreless outings, seemingly having found the nerve to be a closer. There has been talknof changing closers but with the recent success, it seems he has bought himself some time.
The starting pitching will be the focus in the coming series against the NL West. Will Reynolds become the Frontline starter the Mets were looking for, has Zerbe figured it out at Closer? Will the pitching staff settle in and find consistency as a whole?
