LA Dodgers gearing up to party like its 1999!
Its June 24th 1999 and the hangover from the 1998 run to the World Series is getting worrisome in LA.
“We’re just not getting hits in bunches like we were last year. I have tinkered with the lineups but nothing it working. Our pitching staff has been solid once again, but we need some consistency at the plate as well as additional HR Power. I spoke with upper management about shaking up the clubhouse and they agreed.” Said JMich24
The first of three deals was to acquire Jeromy Burnitz.
“We need a spark, a catalyst per say. Jeromy swings a nice bat and is a great clubhouse guy.
Infielder Neifi Perez and SP prospect Tony Armus were really nice young pieces for us, but we thought the addition of Burnitz was worth the price.
We wish nothing but the best for those guys. They’ll fit in nicely on the up and coming Devil Rays."
"To make room in the everyday lineup Alicea was the odd man out. We love his plate presence and excelled glove in the middle of the field but we didn’t intend to extend him after this year.” He will be great for the Brewers." Continued JMich24.
The second and third piece added we’re do it all offensive threat Shawn Wooten as well as RP “Burger” King.
Wooten has really developed HR power after spending the off season “working out” with fellow Pirate Jose Canseco.
“Jose really took me under his wing this off season, introduced me to some really great “trainers” down in Florida. I always saw the ball well, but seemed like a lot of my hits died at the warning track. I have put on 20 pounds of muscle and now have much more HR power. My bench press is now up to 350 pounds! I’m in the best shape of my life. I cant say enough about those guys down in Florida, they changes the trajectory of my career." Said Wooten.
“Lefty Ray ”Burger” King solidifies an already dominate bullpen. This give us some roster flexibility moving forward. We have 5 legit closers coming out of our bullpen; Nelson, Wohlers, Shuey, Lloyd, and King."
“Jim Thome was the unsung hero in all these moves. Before finalizing these string of trades late last night. Jim agreed to move to 2nd base for us. Last year he moved from First Base to Third. “Most guys hitting .342 with 20 HRs don’t like to change. This is one of the best players in our league and has been the ultimate team guy. We’re very lucky to have Jim on board.” Said Jmich24
“Anything I can do to help this club win and get back to the World Series. Skip asked me to jump, I ask how high” Said Thome.
“We think these moves make us better positioned for competing both this season and beyond. I guess time will tell if we pulled the right string this time around. Can’t wait to see what the future holds.” Concluded JMich24
