Texas' leftfielder Larry Walker had some reason to celebrate, as the league named him the American League Player of the Week. Larry was on fire, hitting .538 with 4 HR and 10 RBI. The National League's best player of the week was Montreal's Rafael Palmeiro, who wins the award for the 5th time in his career. In 26 at bats he hit .423 with 4 HR and 13 RBI.

PHILADELPHIA - Ellis Burks got a standing ovation from 27464 fans in Philadelphia, who witnessed his 2000th career hit. His hit in the 5th inning was a single off Greg Swindell. His best year so far was 1994 where he hit .311 with 35 homeruns and 122 RBI. 'I'm out of words. I'll probably realize it tomorrow, but for now I'm done.'
