2000 Draft Lottery Setup

As per new rules, the bottom 6 teams will be placed into an NBA-style draft lottery.

The bottom 6 teams for the 2000 draft are:

1. STL (29 wins)
2. BOS (49 wins)
3. ARZ (53 wins)
4. SEA (53 wins)
5. OAK (53 wins)
6. NYA (57 wins)

Base combinations are:

1. STL - 500 out of 1,000
2. BOS - 250 out of 1,000
3. ARZ - 125 out of 1,000
4. SEA - 63 out of 1,000
5. OAK - 31 out of 1,000
6. NYA - 31 out of 1,000

- STL and BOS had less than 50 wins, so 50% of their combinations are unassigned.
- ARZ, SEA and OAK all tied, so their 125, 63, and 31 combinations will be merged and split evenly into thirds. 125 + 63 + 31 = 219 / 3 = 73

Revised combinations are:

1. STL - 250 out of 1,000 ... other 250 out of 1,000 will be unassigned.
2. BOS - 125 out of 1,000 ... other 125 out of 1,000 will be unassigned.
3. ARZ - 73 out of 1,000
4. SEA - 73 out of 1,000
5. OAK - 73 out of 1,000
6. NYA - 31 out of 1,000

We have talks ongoing for something. That's mainly why I was disappointed to see the draft lottery this year as it does create a good chance he won't have the #1 pick which in turn effects a possible deal.

I was under the same assumption. Just figured with the rest of the rules coming into affect in 2000 that would mean that would be the season the team record would affect draft lottery. Not the 1999 season.
