His face showed signs of pain immediately after the ball left his hand. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Pulled Rotator Cuff Muscle. Darryl has a record of 15-10 this season, with an ERA of 3.12. In 199.1 Innings he was able to strike out 123 batters.
Tuesday 9/20/2000: Ron Gant (CIN) will miss full season
CINCINNATI - Cincinnati's second baseman Ron Gant will miss the rest of the season. He injured himself running the bases in the game between Cincinnati and Philadelphia. The injury didn't seem to be serious the moment it happened. But suddenly Gant collapsed in pain and had to be carried off the field. After being examined by several specialists the diagnosis is clear: Broken Ankle. While compiling an on base percentage of .323, Ron hit .235 and slugged .405. He has collected 84 runs batted in this year.
Tuesday 9/20/2000: Detroit's Eric Davis gets milestone hit
DETROIT - Eric Davis got a standing ovation from 34051 fans in Detroit, who witnessed his 2000th career hit. In 14 years of big league action so far, Eric has compiled a batting average of .258, along with 253 homeruns and 1083 RBI. 'I still remember my first hit. But the one today is something special. I'll definitely keep that ball!' He hit a single in the 7th off Cal Eldred for number 2000.

The American League's best player of the week was Tampa Bay's Mike Piazza, who wins the award for the 4th time in his career. He had an on base percentage of .520 and hit .500, while driving in 10 runs. David Ortiz wins his 2nd Player of the Week award. National League pitchers couldn't figure out how to retire this guy all week long. David pounded opposing pitchers, hitting .517 with 2 HR and 11 RBI while slugging .897.
