Here is something baseball and league related to discuss.
In just a few season we have a big expansion where San Diego, Montreal, Seattle/Milwaukee and the Kansas City Royals will join the league. How lined up are we for people to take over each of these team? I know Dave takes of the Orioles and I have current dibs on the Padres (though I might not take them, actually preferring Brewers more)
Do we want to bring all these new teams in? What about future expansion? Do we care about the Marlins and Rays? Could we trim a few teams like them and say Arizona?

My point of view on this is well known. I don't want to add anymore teams than we have to.
The only problem that creates, is you now have talent for however many real life teams there were, but if we have less teams, the talent might become saturated. Not sure how to deal with that.

ya the talent will be an issue...the talent level in the league is already high. cant imagine is we keep it at 20 teams and the talent coming in for the full league.

My preference as always is to keep the league as close to real life as possible. If it got to the point of where we could find someone who wanted to take over the Cubs but had no interest in an expansion franchise I would certainly be willing to take an expansion franchise at any point in the future.

We expand as far as we have solid GMs, no more, no less. Personally, I think the league should get to vote on new GMs as they come in from here on out. A dearth of good GMs really undercut the effectiveness of GABL, for now. Culture is important to long-term viability.

That's just it though, we don't have 20 good GM's now, and a waiting list of only about 1-2 players. Fact is, there just aren't 30 good GM's willing to play in an OOTP5 league, and willing to join this league. Most have moved on to new versions. And honestly, this is probably my final OOTP5 league. Once it goes away, or I don't like it anymore, I'm probably going to look to find a league in a much newer version. |

I'm confident we can find 4 people for the 1969 expansion. 24 is a good number. We should do the 69 expansion and then go from there. Maybe a few people that left will wanna return? You never know.

For the record, I'm not saying stop at 20. We can't do that. But 24 or 26 should be max. And that will be 24 or 26 with 4-6 "bad" owners.

The original rule in GABL was that you had to have the game (and a computer, obviously). That worked out so much better. |

The original rule in GABL was that you had to have the game (and a computer, obviously). That worked out so much better. A good chunk of the general OOTP 5 community either has a Mac or doesn't have a laptop. You'd be surprised. 30-40% of all BBSBL GM's have others (not just me) helping them with exports and it's the most active OOTP 5 league around. |

If they can get on FB and have communications back and forth with you, why can't they just log into HOFFBL and spend a few minutes, or send Chris the changes or a no change message? You've already admitted that you've made some decisions, however small, without input from the owners. You, in a round about way, control 25% of the teams in this league. That is crazy. |

I also have an issue with one GM exporting for multiple teams on an extended basis. This should be remedied moving forward as we discuss expansion as well.

A)I'm not going to lie, when I saw Shale send in instructions for 5 teams for ST first thing that came to my mind is Shale is managing 5 teams.
B)I recently bought ootp16 and I'd be all for a 16 league. I'd do a 1941 ootp16 league if I could get some help setting up the website, etc. I've always wanted to do a 41 league.
