I am about 18 months away from doing a restart league, but I wanted to get a feel for who would be interested.
Here are the details I am contemplating:
- Continue to use the OOTP5 engine, will consider OOTP8 - Mainly normalized financial settings, everyone at 45,000 seats - Start in 1940, before players left for the war - Start with 16 teams (using the players on those teams) or with 20 teams (and do a re-draft, but allow teams to keep their top 5 for team identity) - Expand to no more than 24 teams (meaning skip TOR, SEA, FLA, COL, TBR, ARZ), but allow teams to move. - Point System (like what we do here) - NO STUPID FRANCHISE RESERVATION SYSTEM, ARGH
- Considering a rating gimmick where all-time leaders get "Legendary" potential ratings. The game caps out at Brilliant, obv, but what if "Legendary" ratings get auto-reversals to their Brilliant rating, and their number ratings will always be tops in the league, like 10 in hits. Think Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Tony Gwynn, Wade Boggs, Rod Carew having Legendary ratings in Hits. I would imagine there be no more than 10 players in each category, throughout the course of the league, so these will be super rare.
Anyway, just curious if there will be any interest in a restart league in 2025.

what would happen in the later years? because i feel like 24 teams with 30 teams worth of talent will all be stacked

we could potentially expand IF there were people.
otherwise, I would take more control of the ratings to prevent inflation.

I’m in, I would like a large market team until the Royals are added. I’ve been playing this game for 17 real-life years and always been in smaller markets.

or with 20 teams (and do a re-draft, but allow teams to keep their top 5 for team identity)
Creation draft would be fun

Don’t see why we don’t just redraft in full. Creates parity to start. Keeping top 5 will just give teams an advantage and if we are restarting why don’t we all just start at the same level.
