The Contract year was always the best solution to tanking. Developed that in my basketball leagues. Essentually you have a window to rebuild or youre fired. In the basketball league it worked well. Wed obviously need more gms to do it here. baseball is a much longer term game than basketball. windows are larger.

Also baseball drafting is a game of ages too why penalize a team for picking mostly younger draft picks because they want to restock the system for the longterm. Basketball is a much faster paced game

It's for longterm parity but it'll take a lot longer to come into effect in a league with so much history already

It's not just you.
There's a no reason to award someone for winning 30-40 games over a 3-4 year period though - it's not hard to be competitive here.

Why does this sound like it also gaurantee good teams better picks they don't deserve? Its about the opportunities being equal. Essentially all teams get equal draft value. Guarantee? You can have the 1st pick one year, the next you have the 30th.

Also it's not "me" at all.
I'm playing my best players. Galaragga and Eichorn are coming up next year because they both just got to servicable at ML level in May, which I don't bring people up past the end of April if they aren't ready when I have the ability to reverse them.
Sorry if I use the rules to my best ability and people get angry at that.

If you want to go for the title that's your choice....you shouldn't get equal value at a top pick. Some teams also can't afford a big budget and have to do the long term rebuild. Sorry Chris this is a bad idea. I'd rather see a lottery system like the NHL uses

lottery is lame too some teams have all the luck and other teams get stuck with pick 7 when they should have had 4

Yeah I don't see tanking as too much of a big deal. No reason to win if you're not competing full force or are close to it. It's either win or prepare for the future. Preparing for the future = tanking
You've never won 30-40 games, right?

Plus with fpr. A good team like nyy...could get the 1st overall one year and then use his fpr on his bad pick year the next.... No thx
I'm open to a lottery also. The original wheel draft would be totally randomized, so theres a chance you end up with the 1 pick out of the gate. My issue is rewarding tanking teams with high picks. Again, why is a team being rewarded for winning 30 games?

Because that's how they get better.... Sometimes teams do actually have to rebuild. It's hard and expensive to maintain longevity ... especially if you are not one of the big financial teams

I hate wheel systems. It's an opportunity for teams to rip off other teams even worse that don't keep up with the wheel. I don't see how that's an issue? The picks would be set beforehand. If anything, teams would know which picks each team has.
Fuck that. There's no excitement if you know exactly where your pick will be before the season starts.

Check my team history if you want feel free. I've tanked quite a bit through rebuilds. It's the only way to build a long term contender unless you're the Tigers and have endless resources to last 20+ seasons

I'm against lotteries of any kind as well. We had them in LBB for a while, but it was too much work and enough people complained about it so I eventually removed it. Keep the draft the same as is. Tanking isn't a big deal as long as people are active and not trying to be slick.
I might honestly begin to lose interest in this league if any lottery or wheel shit happens...not for me

I'm glad we finally have an Expos GM. Took long enough to find a legitimately active suitor to get that team somewhere for once.

Heck... I am one of those 81-81 teams but I am trying. Can't seem to get better here... my bad pitching is only equaled by my poor hitting, fielding and running. Fuckers.
But at one point last week: White Sox- tied for wild card in LB Oakland- 1st in division in MSL Oakland- 1st in division here... haha REDS- 1st in NL after first sim in HFTC Phillies- 1st in ML after first sim in VAV2 CUBS- continue to suck in BBSL... worse than here
Sox folded .500 next sim in MSL A's stinking here Reds still ok Phillies lost catcher and better pitcher to injury CUBS Sandberg hurt
Funny how it goes.

Then I challenge how much you're invested in this league in the first place. Not even willing to have a discussion about doing something about tanking isn't a good look.
