Disagree completely. If it was why wasn't he in the first place? You know I mean 8 k/9 right?

Not really paying attention to the draft much with all my picks traded but seems to me Smotlz shouldn't be durable. Guy had to switch to the pen for a good chunk of his career because of durability concerns after surgery.

I know nobody cares, and I know that I got Sandberg out of the draft, and Santo and Fergie by doing this, but I'm growing to hate the franchise reservation rule. I spent the entire last season accumulating a shit ton of draft picks because I knew this class was going to be really good and it doesn't matter because I get knocked back to essentially 13th, and what do I get for it? 20 points. Spectacular. Shouldn't have even made any trades. Totally pointless.
There's 10 really top flight guys at the top of this draft. I pick 12th. Super irritated.

I completely understand your pain but you're still better off than the years the 3rd pick had to settle for a G/G/G corner infielder.

Guy had to switch to the pen for a good chunk of his career because of durability concerns after surgery. 88-99 12 straight yrs without an issue and after he returned to the stating line up 05-07 he had 100 starts... and while he was a reliever after coming back, not including the fist yr, the three years 02-04 he appeared in 210 games racking up 144 saves... 18 yrs a durability should be erased because of the 1/2 year in 01 when he returned, out of a 22 year career (not including the year he was injured) where he went out every time his number was up...yeah makes sense for him to not be...

Disagree completely. If it was why wasn't he in the first place? You know I mean 8 k/9 right? because he misses things from time to time, and that is why he has this thread. he's getting lbb's file and obviously lbb and hoffbbl has different criteria how players are evaluated.

A player who couldn't maintain his role due to injuries screams durable. Not 12 straight years without issue. He started missing time in 98 and 99 leading up to his missed 2000 with surgery and part of 2001. Facts over feelings.

8 is definitely brilliant. The rating bar turns blue when it's 8 or higher, hence Brilliant.
Check out the rating chart I did years ago.

Disagree completely. If it was why wasn't he in the first place? You know I mean 8 k/9 right? I generally blindly copy Shale's file, but I open it up to gripes because neither he nor I are perfect. Smoltz Brilliant in K's is fine to me. During his peak seasons (age 28 through age 37), it was 9.0 k/9. Even if we stretch out the whole career, 8.0 k/9 is still Brilliant. I usually give Durable ratings to players who played into 40's. Otherwise, everyone retires at 36.

Totally ready for a redo league without franchise reservations lol Yah I just got here and it seems to be a pretty silly rule. It makes it hard to rebuild and just as silly gms argue to improve guys that they are going to get. Now after waiting days for the draft and being ready to get a good player there are no top guys left.

I mean me personally I used mine to get 2 of the my 3 fav braves of all time. Traded for Murph. as for the argue thing, Chris posted a long time ago what the ratings should be based on, which is different than how Shale rates people. Chris sometimes misses things as he imports the file. Since this is an upgrade league, if you are willing to do short simple articles you can easily bank points that allow you to put together a decent team in short order. Good luck! (well not too much, I still wanna dominate the east )

Guys like walker would have spent a career their if the franchise wasn't dying

No idea why Chris gifted you back your pick if you needed that pick to get Smoltz

no, I argue for anything that I notice. but sure just make random comments about one season. the whole point is to make things more realistic, cause Grave and Alomar should be brill hit hitters

I was kinda surprised when I saw the Auto pick Forgot that was auto. I feel like a mod should have jumped in and just given them Larkin. Feels like the right thing to do.

Open teams should just get bpa. Need to make those teams as attractive as possible for new GMs
