My 2 cents are; The only thing I dont like about players sitting in the minors, is if someone was to offer them a contract, they wouldn't accept a minor contract. If someone wants a gold spec, they should be allowed to buy them off a minor team, OR the team that is holding them should have to match the contract. (something reasonable) Hording decent talent, makes it hard for Chris to fill out a tanking teams roster. Then let’s just have a Rule 5 draft? Or something similar?

Everyone's way overreacting to this. I hoard fringe guys as much as anyone hoping for PD but the odds of actually losing someone significant in this way are relatively low. Even just taking the guys that Chris cut from my team this year, I'd say something like 90% would still be backups even with a great PD hit.

Why should I lose a guy I either drafted, signed in FA or traded for just because another guy is sucking and losing on purpose to get the #1 pick? How many of the released guys have made a roster somewhere else? Probably slim to none... so is this actually accomplishing anything other than giving Chris more to do at the flip?

Think of it like minor league free agents. In MLB they feel that if a guy isn't getting called up by his original organization past his prospect days then he has a right to look for work elsewhere.

And if we switched to a newer version of OOTP this would all be mute because the game automatically makes you put your players on your 40 man roster or lose them. Problem solved. If a 52 year old man can figure them out I'm pretty sure y'all can.

I am in 6 and 6.5 leagues and players can stay in minors forever. If you want to pay for crap.

I say we just reverse the releases this season. Revert the contracts back and say screw it. This clearly didn't work as intended.

the issue isn't even players staying in the minors forever, the issue is teams that don't play them and don't have an excuse not to.

Where did we leave off on this?
I'm leaning towards scrapping the rule and appointing a tanking czar as suggested by someone in this thread.

That would mean that: a) it feels less personal/subjective when someone gets penalized b) the czar himself couldn’t get away with tanking

AL czar looks at NL tanking, NL czar looks at AL. Unless you were talking about Chris as 3rd person.
